The Process:This week I spent about thirty minutes reviewing old tricks with Pandora. I went over basic and simple tricks. She quickly remembered how to sit, stay, and lay down. After reviewing, I attempted to teach her how to shake, but she did not listen well. She would get distracted by the treats and other animals around her. I tried to move on and teach her how to roll over. I realized that I was trying to teach her too many tricks at one time and she would not understand if I moved on too quickly. I went back to trying to teach her how to shake. It took multiple attempts but by the end of the thirty minutes she started to catch on and understand. Pandora still does not fully understand how to shake, but she has some understanding of what it means. Next week, I will continue to teach her how to shake and once she understands I will move on to teach her how to roll over. Next Time:For the next session, I want to try and put her in a more seclusive area so she does not get distracted as easily. I will try and keep her away from other animals. For Pandora, I think she would learn better if I tried to teach her one trick at a time repeatedly. Trying to teach her too many tricks at one time was not beneficial. For now I will try to teach her one new trick until she understands it. Then when she fully understands, I will move on to another trick. Throughout the week I will try to get her to do the trick she is learning repeatedly. I think repetition would be the best way for her to learn new tricks.

About the Project:Over the next twelve weeks, I want to try to teach my dog various tricks. I have had my dog Pandora for about three years and is very smart, but she does not listen very well and she is super hyper. I will have to be very patient while teaching her tricks because she gets distracted easily. For this project, I want to put her listening skills to a test. So far she can do basic tricks. I want to push her to the next level and see if she can do bigger tricks. I want to teach her a variety of tricks. My hope is she will be able to learn new tricks over the next twelve weeks. I will start with teaching her basic and small tricks such as how to shake, jump on command, spin, etc. and try to progress with bigger tricks over time. I hope at the end Pandora will be able to do an assortment of tricks. This project can either go really good or really bad, but I hope it ends well. At the end of the twelve weeks, I hope Pandora learns many new tricks and improves her listening skills. How?I will be teaching Pandora a total of twelve tricks, one for each week. Each week I will spend thirty minutes to an hour trying to teach Pandora a new trick. I will record each session to show the progress of her learning the tricks. After the first week, I will start each session with repeating old tricks to see how well Pandora remembers them. Throughout the weeks I will repeatedly try to revise the tricks and reward her with a treat. At the end of the twelve weeks, I will do a test to see how many tricks she remembers out of the twelve.
